Manaaki Strength & Wellness is building more than a bodybuilding and fitness gym. As a veteran-owned business, our mission is to create a destination where strength, movement, recovery, and whole-person well-being come together—guided by Manaaki Tāngata and a genuine commitment to ensuring every person feels welcomed, supported, empowered, and inspired to thrive.
Ethos
Strength and wellness grounded in respect, genuine care, and community—where every person is welcomed, supported, and empowered to train, focus, transform, and thrive.
Manaaki is te reo Māori for to support, care for, welcome, protect, and show respect. Tāngata means people. Together they name the standard this gym is being built to keep.
Learn about Manaaki TāngataThe work
Four movements. One destination. The gym is still taking shape — the standard is not.
Strength
Serious strength and bodybuilding training — built for people who want to work, not wander. Progressive, coached, and unapologetically focused.
Movement
A destination for movement that serves the whole person. Not noise. Not trends. Attention, craft, and the discipline to keep showing up.
Recovery
Recovery is part of the work. Space to restore, rebuild, and return stronger — body, mind, and the systems that hold them together.
Community
Guided by Manaaki Tāngata: every person welcomed, supported, and empowered. A gym that feels like a place you belong — not a transaction.

Matthew Crockett is a disabled Air Force veteran, longtime federal public servant, and sole founder of Manaaki Strength & Wellness.
